Phil Runs Game on MacWorld

Tuesday, January 11th, 2005

MacWorld 05We admit, we had high hopes for Phil during the MacWorld Keynote, and he was magic as usual! Schiller not only reprised his role as one of 3 remote video chatters, he also demoed the brand new Pages with wit and charm.

Phil Preparing to Dazzle at MacWorld

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

MacWorld 05With the MacWorld Keynote only a week away, the rumor mill is really ramping up, coming up with tons of new bombs that Schiller may drop on us all. While an appearance as one of 3 remote video chatters would be considered a dissappointing Schiller snub, others speculate that Phil may to called upon to do so much as introduce the rumored new iWork Office Suite. An expert demo of the new Apps seems like just Phil’s gig, but Keynote is kinda Steve’s baby, so I’m not exactly sure how the cards will fall.

After last fall’s stellar Paris MacWorld and iMac G5 introduction, it seems like Schiller could do anything, so I expect he will make his presence felt in many separate appearances.

What Schiller-maniacs are really holding out for though, is some of media interviews Phil will surely be dishing out after the keynote. These may yield hours of Schiller footage, so keep on the lookout online and have your Tivos set to stun. Don’t forget to share your photos from the floor either, only if you can get one of Phil of course.

With Jobs Out, Schiller Leads Apple to Best Quarter in Years!

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

Phil introduces iMac G5Late in the fourth quarter fiscal year 2004, Jobs is out with cancer, who can lead Apple to victory? Seriously, could Tim Cook really spark this kind of performance from Apple? Nope, clearly it was master-marketer Phil Schiller who was leading the charge from behind the scenes. As reader Elijah van der Giessen points out:

“Apple just had their most successful quarter in years. The very same quarter that Steve Jobs was hospitalized. Makes you wonder who the real leader of Apple is, doesn’t it? Clearly Schiller is the Svengali behind Apple.”

Well we couldn’t agree more. Steve is insanely great and all, but the real passionate core of Apple is that smooth Canadian dude with the blue shirt on. Basically, this whole story could be summed up in one sentence: Phil Schiller is super cool. It seems like a waste of everyone’s time to dilute this message with any anecdotal evidence at this point.

Okay fine, here’s some fluff: why was Apple so successful this quarter? Clearly the iPod and the new iMac were huge factors. The iPod is getting Apple huge publicity for it’s cool factor, and cool factor is clearly something that Apple’s Marketing Department is responsible for. Who’s the Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing? Hint: it’s the guy who introduced the fabulous new iMac G5, too!

How cool is Phil Schiller?! He’s Super Cool, that’s how cool Phil Schiller is! Give him $106 Million!

Schiller Loses the Mullet!

Friday, August 15th, 2003

Is there something new about Phil? While watching and re-watching Schiller’s recent appearances in the G5 Intro Movie and the ADC Keynote, we’ve detected a change in the venerable Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing. Where is his mullet? Observe the new Schiller on the right compared to his previous appearances:

From left to right: Schiller introducing the iPod, the Flat Panel iMac, and the G5.

Frankly we don’t yet think there’s cause for alarm. After all, there’s a good chance that he’s just temporarily cut it short for the summer time. Who needs all that hair in your face when it’s hot outside?

Maybe he just went to a new barber for the first time. That’s possible. Or, you know, Schiller is a free spirit after all, maybe he hates getting his hair cut. It’s such a drag to deal with appointments and stuff. Philip Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apple Computer doesn’t have time for those kind of hang-ups, man! When he gets his hair cut, he cuts it real short and then lets it grow out for the next several months. Yeah, that’d be just like Schill!

But what if this is the new Schiller and his half-business-mullet is gone forever? Well we will mince no words, if that is the case, let this website be the first to go on the record saying it:

We like the old Schiller better!

Stay tuned for updates to this emerging drama as we head into the fall.

Woah, what happened?

Thursday, July 24th, 2003

Add this site to the list of Schiller’s many victims! His massive charisma is too much to handle even for those who seek it out!

We had almost recovered from banging our heads falling over after Phil’s appearance at MacWorld, when he nailed us with another dose. When Schiller popped up on iChat AV at WWDC I almost shit my pants! Man that was awesome!!

Like Icarus this website strove to bathe in the glory of Phil Schiller, and the wings of our update schedule were roasted by the sun of Phil’s marketing intensity. We couldn’t handle the Schill, basically.

We’ve learned a lot about ourselves, and a lot about Phil Schiller since we’ve started though. And we know now that it may not be possible to contain within the boundaries of mere HTML and javascript the boundless good of Phil Schiller.

That’s why were getting back to basics at schillermania.com; back to our founding vision for what the website could be. That’s right; a bland site where you can buy Phill Schiller fan gear!

The store already exists, click here if you don’t believe it, but there is nothing for sale yet. Not to worry, the first round of products are right around the corner. Expect a Schiller T-shirt first, then two Schillermania posters. After that, who knows? Let us know if you have any requests for merchandise.

Schiller Wows at MacWorld

Sunday, January 12th, 2003

San Francisco was shaken to its knees this week by a massive Schiller-quake that was off the charts in magnitude. The best MacWorld in recent memory enthralled thousands of Mac fans this week, starting Tuesday with Steve Jobs’ keynote address. While Steve’s presentation was amazing and captured most of the attention, MacWorld is really Phil Schiller’s stomping ground.

Phil made his first appearance right at the beginning of Steve’s address, coming out to demo the first software announcement (the first overall new announcement being Burton’s AMP iPod jacket). Final Cut Express couldn’t have had a better intorduction than at the skillful fingertips of Schiller, who demostrated to the crowd not only that the app was cool, but also that he was a master of video editing. Where do Schiller’s skills end, or do they have a limit at all?

Steve went on to make many more awsome announcements and do some killer demos of his own, but Phil came back just like he always does: in video form. The intro video for the new PowerBooks was a classic Schiller piece; with him setting the scene in only the way Schiller can. It can’t really even be described, you just have to watch it. Nice body language Schiller!

The Keynote was just the beginning of Phil’s activities at MacWorld though. After the big festivities of the Keynote, Schiller got to throw his own party. This year’s Power of X was a strictly Schiller event, unlike last year’s which was co-hosted by Apple’s foremost programming wizard, Avie Tevanian.

Despite the absence of Avie this time, the Power of X presentation was much the same in format as the last time. Phil spent a little time talking about some of the new features of OS X, like Safari’s WebCore and Force Feedback. Then he demonstrated his ability to rock out at video games. His Nascar demonstration was totally righteous of course

In the end, the second Power of X may not have equaled the first in excitement level, but it was certainly enjoyable and we hope it becomes a regular feature of MacWorld.

Welcome to Schillermania.com

Sunday, December 29th, 2002

The Official launch of schillermania.com is upon us, and at an exciting time for Phil Schiller fans worldwide. With MacWorld San Francisco just over a week away, Phil will be dropping some serious product knowledge on us about some seriously cool technology very soon!

What’s more, Phil’s awesome descriptions of the great new products at MacWorld are usually only the beginning of a tidal wave of Schiller appearances as he makes his rounds of the tech media. Let’s hope 2003 is Schiller’s best year yet!

The next major event marked on all mac fan’s calendars is right around the corner. MacWorld San Francisco always brings the dope new shit, and Phil Schiller is always knee deep in it.

This year’s west coast event looks to be another great one, too. Along with the traditional inspiring Keynote™ by Steve Jobs, this year’s MacWorld also features a rare appearance by Woz and a sequel to last year’s excellent Avie and hil Show: The Power of X.

Be sure to visit an Apple Store (preferably one with a theater) near you to watch the Keynote™ at 9:00am Pacific on Tuesday, January 7th. Or just grab a stream from Apple to tune in online. Satellite coordinates are also posted here, for those with the equipment.

Unfortunately, only the Keynote™ is going to be broadcast, so you will have to be at the Expo to check out any of the other presentations live. But not to worry, if Apple follows its form of last year, they will post the Power of X presentation online a few days later. If you didn’t see last year’s Power of X, you should definitely go check it out if you can find it. It was a tour de force of Mac OS X’s cool features, from a more technical angle too.

This year’s Power of X presentation looks to exceed last year’s engaging heights with a bevy of new features of OS X, some of which have yet to be announced probably. You can be sure that Phil will be spot on as usual in describing exactly what makes Apple’s technologies so cool. Maybe they’ll have found the answer to last year’s big question: “How many icons can you put in the dock?”

It’s great to see Phil getting more and more opportunities to do his thing in the limelight, but we can still count on him to fill his traditional roles in supporting Steve’s Keynote™. Look for a nice video interview with Phil about some or all of the new announcements. We may also see him onstage helping Steve with some demos. Last year’s MacWorld New York sure went smoothly with Phil demonstrating BlueTooth with his phone and Rendezvous with a laser printer.

The excitement of seeing Phil on stage is enough for us, so we’ll leave the announcement speculation to the rumor sites. Any one who’s attending this year, make sure to give Phil a very enthusiastic welcome. Schill-er Schill-er!!
